CHARACTERS:

*SUSY HENDRIX (25-30)*
Susy is a determined woman who was blinded in a car accident a year ago. Her strong will has made her determined not to let her disability ruin her life, and she strives to be as independent and self-sufficient as she can be. She met her husband, Sam, a few months after the accident and was drawn to his refusal to see her as handicapped. Still adjusting to her blindness and to being newly married, her natural free-spiritedness is in slight contrast Sam’s
more rigid way of living, though the two seemingly balance one another and seem happy. She is highly intuitive, intelligent, savvy, determined, yet sensitive.

*SAM HENDRIX (25-35)*
Sam is an ex-Marine and man who has lifted himself up by his own bootstraps. Intelligent, practical, and sensitive to Susy's feelings and thoughts as she learns to live with being blind, he never wallows in sentiment or pity and expects Susy to do the same, fully believing in her and seeing her as incredibly capable. Though he's now a professional photographer, he doesn't really seem to have an artistic temperament, and at times clearly still possesses the demeanor and habits of a former Marine.

*GLORIA (12-15)*
A young neighbor of Susy and Sam's caught between childhood and adolescence, Gloria is bright, possesses a good heart, and desires to help, but also wishes to be seen as a young woman and no longer seen as a child. She has a challenging life at home with an undependable mother and absent father, and often escapes it by helping Susy - whom she sees as a big sister or motherly figure - with daily tasks and chores. She seems stubborn, confrontational, and still childish at times, challenging Susy in a variety of ways and seemingly pushing Susy's buttons, though this comes from being at an awkward age and a desire to be seen more "grown-up." Ultimately, she looks up to Susy and encourages her.

*HARRY ROAT (40-55)*
A true sociopath with a sadistic streak, he's highly intelligent and manipulates people with ease. He's an excellent, experienced conman, and will do anything - regardless of how criminal it is - for any thrill or for money. A man without conscience, he's also a master of disguise able to quickly identify other people's weaknesses and use these against others to get what he wants. He is the ultimate narcissist and believes himself to be superior to everyone else. He's very quick on his feet, and chillingly clever.

*SERGEANT CARLINO (35-50)*
A small-time grifter, he's a coarse, uneducated man without conscience, desperate for a quick buck. Though he's not particularly cruel or sadistic by nature, he will do whatever is needed to survive without much consideration. He's a fairly good conman, but certainly never the brains behind any operation. Perhaps his greatest criminal ability is knowing how to effectively use his innate air of authority, making him a natural at impersonating police officers. Unfortunately, he seldom thinks more than one step ahead, often causing him to be on the short end of any con. Recently paroled from prison, he met his former partner in crime, Mike, years ago, and now, more broke than ever, he's eager to team up with Mike again for another job.

*MIKE TALMAN (30-50)*
Naturally charming, Mike was a decent human being at one point, and still seems to have those instincts, unlike conmen Roat or Carlino. He has natural empathy and compassion, but chose the life of a small time grifter, now wrestling between who he is by nature and what he must do to survive as a criminal. He is a gambler, rootless, and alone. Highly charismatic, he's easy to talk to and thinks fast on his feet, his most advantageous qualities as a criminal. However, he was recently double-crossed by his former partner in crime Lisa, sending him and Carlino to prison.

*TWO POLICE OFFICERS (25-45)*
Two police officers who enter the home of Susy and Sam, both displaying diligence, capability, and experience, though what they're met with at the Hendrix home is unlike anything they've ever seen.
